Phillies - Pirates Recap Quickie

Part one of the two part "Battle of Pa" between the Phillies and Pirates kicked off on Friday night in Pittsburgh with a three game weekend series. The Pirates scored their only runs in the first inning for an early 2-0 lead.  Cesar Hernandez's RBI single in the third cut it to 2-1. Aaron Altherr's ground out, and Tommy Joseph's sac fly in the sixth put the Phillies up 3-2. Jeremy Hellickson put the Phillies up 4-2 with a RBI double in the seventh. Hellickson would leave the game with an injury. Cameron Rupp would finish off the scoring with a three run homer in the ninth, and the Phillies would end their four game losing streak with a 7-2 win over the Pirates. The Phillies improve to 15-24, and the Pirates drop to 18-24.
