Phillies - Cardinals Recap Quickie

The Phillies came into Friday night's series opener with the Cardinals riding a 2 game losing streak while the Cardinals were riding a 7 game losing streak. Unfortunately for the Phillies and their fans the Cardinals snapped their 7 game losing streak with a 3-2 win. The Phillies drew first blood in the top of the third on a Tommy Joseph RBI single and an Aaron Altherr RBI triple to go up 2-0. The Cardinals responded in the bottom half of the inning with a pair of runs on a Stephen Piscotty sacrifice fly, and Jedd Gyorko RBI single to tie it 2-2. Aldemys Diaz finished the scoring with a solo home run in the fifth inning.The Phillies did get the tying run to third base in the ninth but were unable to score. The Phillies drop their third straight and fall to 21-38, and the Cardinals improve to 27-32 with the win.
