Pitcher Christy Mathewson of the New York Giants won 30 or more games four times in 1903 (30), 1904 (33), 1905 (31) and 1908 (37). Since 1900, he is the only major league pitcher to win 30 or more games in a season four times and was the first to do it three years in a row.
