Phillies and Pirates opened part 2 of the "Battle of PA" on Monday night in game 1 of a four game series with the Phillies coming out on top 4-0. Freddy Galvis celebrated the birth of his second child earlier in the day by giving the Phillies a 2-0 lead with a two run homer in the first inning. Fittingly that would turn out to be the game winning hit. Maikel Franco made it 4-0 with a two run homer in the third inning. Aaron Nola gave up just four hits, walked one, and struck out eight in seven innings to pick up the win. The Phillies pick up their second straight win and improve to 28-53 at the their halfway mark. The Pirates drop their fourth straight and fall to 37-46.
